6.6.5 List the policies and achievements of the emperor Shi Huangdi in unifying northern China under the Qin Dynasty
Shi Huangdi was the emperor of China during the Qin Dynasty. He was very cruel but he expanded China by conquering neighboring states. He was very strict and was very inconsiderate of his people's' freedom. Shi Huangdi was not the greatest emperor but he was very successful.
Shi Huangdi believed in the philosophy of Legalism and disliked the better and more good philosophy of Confucianism. He killed Confucianists and he burned all the books that didn't have anything related to Legalism.
Shi Huangdi died and he created a tomb surrounding himself with terracotta warriors and they were believed to protect Shi Huangdi in the afterlife. These terracotta had the faces of Shi Huangdi's past warriors. Shi Huangdi had more than a 1000 of these statues of clay and they were very extraordinary.
Shi Huangdi also created the Great Wall of China which was built to keep out nomadic invaders and enemies from neighboring countries. Shi Huangdi made 1000's of peasants build this majestic wall and people of China didn't appreciate being used to create this wall until they were entirely finished.
