My name is Simon Chung and I am a student at Rise Kohyang Middle School(RKMS). This is my digital portfolio of 2013-2014. I am in 6th grade and I have many great teachers. RKMS is a small school, but it is an awesome school. If you are studying, getting your work done, and doing a great job, then there are rewards for you. RKMS gives us an opportunity to experience an awesome Life Experienced Lessons(LEL). These are field trips that are not ordinary, the school doesn't take us to only museums, but awesome places like Knott's. These are a few LEL's I went to:
L.A Zoo
Disneyland
LACMA
The Lion King Show at the Pantages Theater
Bowling at Shatto 39 Lanes

Wiz Musical
Lakers vs Bobcats Game and sooooo much more.
RKMS may be a small school but it makes learning fun and encourages you to learn. Our school has about 200 students, but I make a lot of friends here. Also the food here is delicious they give out pasta, pizza, salads, hamburgers, and a lot of other food.
The promotion goals to go to 7th grade are:
70% or higher on ELA CCSS
70% or higher on Math CCSS
70% or higher of overall average of other subjects
2/4 writing exams passed
6 or more books passed and improve on your reading
You must achieve 4/5 goals to get promoted.
My ultimate goal at RKMS is to go to the EOTY LEL to San Francisco and my career goal is not quite decided, but I'm interested in being a teacher and I want to see what other careers that interest me.
I really believe that we are capable of doing anything and that we shouldn't be afraid to do something.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
